Spring is here! I am loving the warmer weather (still sometimes really cool here in Utah) ,being able to get out and ride my bike (I only swallow a few of the spring bugs that have hatched. The rest end up down my shirt and in my helmet), and seeing all of the green popping up from the ground. Not to mention, we can leave our windows open most of the time. Ahhhhhhh, breathe in that fresh air. It is a very cleansing time.
My post today isn't about spring. I just wanted to let you know I am thoroughly enjoying it! Today I wanted to refer back to a post I made in September of last year titled "Inside and Out." When I made that post, I was referring to the food that goes inside our bodies. But food is not the only thing we put in our bodies. As women, we use feminine products every month. Do we know what they are made of? Is it really that important? I think YES!
About a month ago I was perusing Instagram and came across a company called Conscious Period. Interested in what they were about, I clicked on the short video. They had my attention! Conscious Period is a company that sells organic cotton tampons. Why did this get me so excited? I am always trying to find new ways to keep my body healthy and this was just one more way.
Do we really need organic tampons? Again, in my mind YES! The more we keep harmful chemicals away from our bodies, the more we benefit. I want to know that what I am using is cotton and not some synthetic blend with a tiny bit of cotton. I want to know that the tampons I use haven't been sprayed with harmful herbicides, pesticides, chlorine or bleach. It is important to me. Healthy, inside and out!
One of the great things that the folks at Conscious Period do, which I love, is give back. There are many women around the world that can't afford feminine products. For every box of tampons sold at Conscious Period, they donate organic pads to women in need. Why pads and not tampons? I asked the same question. On their website it states:
"We donate pads instead of tampons because:
-pads can be used for a longer period of time
-pads are more convenient to change, even if there is no bathroom available
-pads pose fewer hygiene challenges
-the women they are given to prefer pads"
It's a win/win! We are treating ourselves with love and giving back at the same time. Interested in trying some or even gifting some? I will post the link below along with a 15% discount code.
Until next month...
